An agronomy summer intern assists the agronomy team with soil and tissue sampling, crop scouting, planting and maintaining plots, shadowing agronomy sales staff, and visiting patrons’ farms. Interns also learn other aspects of the Cooperative Elevator Co., including marketing and petroleum. Applications are accepted in the fall for the following summer internship.
Job Responsibilities
Provides prompt, efficient, and professional service to customers. Clearly and courteously communicates with customers promoting a positive company image at all times.
Assists with planting company plots and helps maintain plots and corresponding record keeping.
Collects tissue samples and sends in for analysis.
Scouts, monitors, and assesses crops for conditions, weeds, and pests. Keeps agronomy staff apprised of conditions.
Performs soil testing and may help present results to clients.
Job shadows agronomy sales staff to learn more about the business.
Assists with quality testing for wheat harvest.
Attend agronomic training sessions and team meetings.
Exposure to all aspects of the Company business including grain and dry bean marketing and petroleum.
